ARGYLE - After five straight losses on the road, the Argyle boys basketball team was ready for some home cooking.

Argyle senior Collin Argue scored a game-high 31 points to lead the Orioles to a 65-54 non-conference win over Madison Abundant Life on Monday.

"We were on the road all of December and it's tough with a young team," Argyle coach Justin Jenson said. "It's always nice to play in front of the home fans. It's always tough coming back after the break especially when you are not in a holiday tournament."

Argyle (2-6, 0-3 Six Rivers East) started in a man-to-man defense, but then switched to a 2-3 zone. Abundant Life jumped out to a 19-10 lead on the Orioles. Jenson had the Orioles switch back to a man-to-man defense.

The game was tied at halftime at 26. The Orioles outscored Abundant Life 39-28 in the second half.

"We did a much better job in the man," Jenson said. "The guys were just more aggressive and active in the man."

Argyle junior Brent Ritschard added 16 points. The Orioles made 8 of 16 free throws and Abundant Life hit eight 3-pointers.

"Every time we went up by 10 or 12 points, they would come down and hit a 3-pointer," Jenson said.
