MONROE - Twenty-nine youth athletes participated in the YMCA's Just Tri triathlon, Saturday.
Sydney Mathiason, 10, took first place honors in the 7-10-year-old girls division, and had the fastest time on the day, at 21 minutes, 31.9 seconds.
Danny Guilliams, 10, finished second overall and first in the boys division with a time of 21:39.7 seconds
Children ages 7-15 years old participated in the race in three age groups. In the 7- to 10-year-old group, the athletes swam 100 meters, biked two miles and ran .85 miles. The 11-14 division swam 200 meters, biked 5.7 miles and ran 1.1 miles, while the 15-year-olds swam 300 meters, biked 5.7 miles and ran 1.7 miles.
Jeffery Guilliams was the top male finisher in the 11-14 age group, finishing with a time of 42:18.4, and Hannah Owens took first on the girls side with a time of 41:47.7
Mikael Leonhardt was the lone 15-year-old, and he finished with a time of 45:13.9.
