AlphornMan slated Aug. 5

NEW GLARUS - The fifth annual AlphornMan sprint distance triathlon returns to the countryside of New Glarus on Sunday, Aug. 5.

The event features a quarter mile swim in the village pool, a 15-mile bike route that meanders through the countryside, and a 3-mile run on the edge of the village.

Last year's event drew over 200 participants. The race begins at 7:30 a.m., to the sounds of the alphorns in the village park. There is a post-race pavilion with local food and New Glarus beer. The race registration fee also includes admission to the Volksfest (Swiss Independence Day) at Tell Shooting Park, located three blocks from the village park.
