Albany sweeps Wolves

RIVER RIDGE - Albany senior Mitchell Trow had two hits and did his part pitching to propel the Comets to a 7-4 win over River Ridge Friday in the first game of a doubleheader.

Trow went 2-for-4 at the plate and earned the win on the mound. He pitched a complete game and gave up four earned runs on eight hits. He struck out six and walked three.

Albany had a three-run second inning to take a 5-3 lead and never looked back.

The Comets completed the sweep by slugging their way to a 14-6 win in the second game of the twinbill.

Albany senior Joey McNaught went 3-for-5 and Trow was 3-for-4.



Pecatonica 7, Shulls.-Benton 4

MAUSTON - The Pecatonica baseball team pulled off a thrilling 7-4 win over Shullsburg-Benton in the first game of a doubleheader Friday at the Woodside Sports Complex in Mauston.

The Vikings scored four runs in the ninth inning to cap a comeback win. Pecatonica junior Kyle Kleppe went 3-for-4 with a triple and senior Drew Schliem was 3-for-5 with a double. Junior Brooks Chandler finished 2-for-5 with a double.

Pecatonica sophomore A.J. Hendrickson went the distance pitching nine innings, giving up four earned runs on 10 hits. He struck out five and walked one. The Vikings (11-1) couldn't get the sweep and lost their first game of the season in the night cap, 9-5.

Schliem went 2-for-3.

The Vikings used two pitchers. Chandler pitched three innings and gave up three earned runs on six hits. He struck out three and walked three. Kleppe pitched four innings and gave up three earned runs on eight hits. He struck out one and didn't issue a walk.



Columbus 10, New Glarus 3

NEW GLARUS - Columbus' Peyton Henry went 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead the Cardinals to a 10-3 win over New Glarus Friday.

New Glarus senior Koner French pitched five innings and gave up seven earned runs on 11 hits. He struck out eight and walked two.

New Glarus sophomore John Chenoweth went 2-for-3 with one run scored and junior Gavin Binger was 2-for-4 with one RBI.



Darlington 12, Southwestern 5

DARLINGTON - The Redbirds pounded out 10 hits and had two big innings to beat Southwestern 10-5.

Darlington's Trevor Johnson went 2-for-3. Seniors Jason Singer, Cole McDonald and Ben Muhlstein each went 2-for-4 to lead the Redbirds' offensive attack.

Singer pitched 6 2/3 innings and gave up three earned runs on eight hits. He struck out three and walked three.
