CASSVILLE - It might have taken 35 of the 36 minutes in the game to get the lead, but once Albany grabbed it they never let go. Brook Kahler hit a go-ahead 3 pointer with 45 seconds remaining to give Albany a 57-56 lead. Albany went 4 of 4 from the line in the final minute to close out Cassville 61-56.
"We came out flat. They kind of punched us in the nose," Albany coach Derik Doescher said. "We struggled most of the night. A positive is we hung in there and did a few things down the stretch to get the 'W.'"
Cassville (1-5) led 30-24 at the half.
Payton Zurflush scored a team-high 23 points for Albany, which had seven players score in the game - six of which scored between 4 and 9 points. Cassville, meanwhile, had just four players score, three of which were in double digits.
Albany (3-6) returns to action Thursday at Argyle (6-1).
