ALBANY - Albany's boys basketball team picked up its first win of the year, 61-38 at Belmont.
Josh Dahl scored 16 points, Corbin Kelley had 15 and Jamison Stauffacher added 14 as the Comets (1-2) were able to expand on a 32-16 halftime lead.
Up next for Albany is the Six Rivers opener against Argyle on Tuesday.
Columbus 63, Belleville 48
BELLEVILLE - The Wildcats couldn't stop Columbus' duo of Trent Casper and Ben Elmer. Casper, a junior, scored a game-high 29 points while Elmer, a sophomore added 25 for the visiting Cardinals (1-2).
Drew Schrader led Belleville (1-2) with 17 points. Coityn Winkers added 12.
Next up for Belleville is a Tuesday travel date to Lake Mills (3-0), which went to the state tournament a season ago.
Girls Basketball
Monticello 56, Pecatonica 30
BLANCHARDVILLE - The Ponies picked up their first win of the season - and first since their 2015 regional final on Feb. 28, 2015.
Monticello, which had shuttered the varsity program each of the past two years due to low numbers, led Pecatonica 31-9 at halftime.
Junior Alyssen Noriega scored a game-high 23 points for the Ponies (1-3). Sophomore Miah Brokopp added 13 and Lindsey Pence and Abby Wicker each had 6.
For Pecatonica (1-3), Nina McKeon led the way with 13 points and Alexia Knutson added 7.
Monticello travels to unbeaten Black Hawk Thursday, while Pecatonica next will host Albany the same evening.
Barneveld 46, Juda 43
JUDA - Senior Maddie Roth scored a game-high 19 points, but Barneveld escaped with a win over the Panthers Friday.
Juda (1-2) led by three points at the half, 25-22. The Golden Eagles outscored the Panthers 24-18 in the second half. Roth made three 3-pointers. Juda's Montana Steinmann and Erika Duecker each added 6 points.
Barneveld's Taryn Pickarts scored a team-high 14 points to lead the Eagles. With the win, Barneveld improves to 1-3.
Juda travels to Argyle (4-1) on Thursday.
Darlington 64, Mineral Point 62
DARLINGTON - Kathleen Mathias scored a game-high 16 points for the Redbirds as Darlington rallied in the second half to pick up its third win of the season.
Mineral Point led 26-22 at the break, but the Redbirds (3-1) closed out the tight game down the stretch.
Kaylee Meyers had 15 for Darlington, Kennedy Rankin 11, Bethany McDonald 8 and Meghan Douglas added 7.
The Redbirds host Dodgeville on Tuesday.
