Albany boys, Pec girls roll

SOUTH WAYNE - At the Six Rivers Conference meet in South Wayne, the Albany boys squad ran away in the team standings with 111 overall points, while the Pecatonica-Argyle girls squad took the top spot over the host Warriors with 92 team points.

Black Hawk won both the men's and women's 100-meter dash events, with solid performances by Jayden Rufenacht (12.05 seconds) and Jen Wellnitz (12.86 seconds). The duo also swept the field in the 200-meter dash with times of 24.40 (Rufenacht) and 27.56 (Wellnitz).

Also picking up first-place finishes for the Warriors were Ben Meligan in the shot put (39 feet, 8 1/2 inches), Olivia Holland in the 300-meter hurdles (49.15), Wellnitz in the long jump (14-8 1/2) and the girls 400-meter relay team (55.93 seconds).

First-place finishes for the Comets on the men's side were Josh Little in the 800 meters (2:19.84), Logan Webb in the discus (143-01), Devin Blumer in the long jump (17-0 1/2), the 400 relay team (50.18), and the 800 relay team (1:43.44). On the girls side, Marley Malkow in the discus (98-09), Bailey Hlavachedk in the high jump (4-2) and the 3,200 meter relay team (11:21.60), all collected first-place finishes for the Comets.

Monticello swept the 1,600-meter individual events with Dylan Beckwith (5:22.00) and Ashley Risley (6:36.00). Thorin Croushore in the 300-meter hurdles (48.96), Mackenzie Zanow in the girls 400-meter dash (1:10.72) and the boys 800m and 1,600m relay teams also finished first in their respective events.

Pecatonica-Argyle's Manuel Ruiz in the 400 meters (57.96) and Owen Aets in the high jump (5-06.00) rounded out their top finishes on the men's side. For the women, Samantha Erickson in the 800 meters (2:47), Elizabeth Tisch in the 100m hurdles (19.09), Cassidy Steiner in the shot put (31-1.3/4), and the 200 and 400 meter relay teams all placed first.
