32 Cheesemakers set PRs at Edgewood

MADISON - Monroe and Milton tied for third in the boys Edgewood Quad Tuesday, while the Lady Cheesemakers were fourth. The Cheesemaker coaches split their squads in competition, as the program also had a meet Monday. The coaches were looking to avoid wear and tear with regionals and sectionals around the corner, according to boys coach Scott Mosher.

On the boy's side, Stoughton won with a score of 90.5. Edgewood was second (71.5) and Monroe and Milton each had 47 points.

Stoughton also won the girls meet with a score of 81.5. Edgewood was second (74), Milton third (52) and Monroe fourth (37.5).

Sam Kind won the boys 100-meter dash with a personal record time of 11.39 seconds, which was .25 ahead of Stoughton's Jordan DiBenedetto. Kind also had a PR in the 200-meter dash (23.24), taking second.

Drake Ingold had a PR in the 800 with a time of 2:00.52, which was good enough for first place. Kyle Legler also set a personal best in his first-place finish in the 1,600 at 4:42.23.

Jacob Setterstrom took second in the shot put, setting a personal best mark with a throw of 33 feet, 9 inches. Teammate Tyson Welsch won the discus (131-02).

Sixteen boys on the Cheesemakers team set personal records at the meet.

On the girl's side, Megan Benzschawel set a PR and took second in the 100 with a time of 13.61, just .18 off the pace from Stoughton's Ellie Trieloff.

Cammi Ganshert won the 200 for Monroe with a mark of 26.79 seconds. Ganshert teamed up with Mya Waterman, Jada Love and Rachel Meier to win the 800-relay race with a time of 1:52.78.

Grace Saunders set a personal record in the discus (83-11), which netter her second-place honors.

The Lady Cheesemakers also had 16 varsity athletes set personal best times at the meet.

Monroe's next competition is set for Friday at the Delavan-Darien Invitational.



SWAL Midseason Meet

FENNIMORE - The Darlington Redbirds rolled in both the boys and girls meets Tuesday.

The Darlington boys team won the meet with a score of 181.5, edging second place Fennimore (169), and the Lady Redbirds (149) held off Fennimore (133) for the girl's title.

Darlington took the top four spots in the boys 400-meter dash. Curtis Blosch (55.82) was first, while Grady Rielly (57.44), Payton Heinberg (57.55) and Black Whalen (57.62) all broke 58 seconds.

Blosch also won the pole vault (12-0), a full foot better than second place finisher Carter Freymiller of Fennimore.

Trae Schilling won the 1,600 (5:00.20) for Darlington, and Connor McGowan took first in the discus (138-06), more than 20 feet beyond the next best thrower.

The Redbirds' 1,600 relay team of Schilling, Heinberg, Bailey Schwartz and Michael Thompson took first place (3:49.69), nearly a second ahead of second-place Riverdale.

On the girl's side, Kathleen Mathias won the 400 (1:02.71), Hunter Weber took top honors in the pole vault (9-00), Marissa Gould won the shot put (35-01.5) and Kennedy Rankin won the discus (129-06). Rankin's throw was 21 feet beyond the second-place finisher and over 30 feet farther than the No. 3 spot.

The Redbirds 3,200 relay team of Emma Crist, Gracie Douglas, Ilse Mendez and Val Trozzo won their race (11:21.51), 15 seconds ahead of second place Fennimore.



Capitol Conference Quad

LAKE MILLS - The Sugar River Raiders had two champions on the boy's side in the Lake Mills Quad Tuesday, while the girls team had three title winners.

Dalton Fahey won the boys 400 with a season-best time of 51.80. Cole Myers took first in the 110 high hurdles (16.8).

On the girl's side, Kiara Donnell won the 100-meter dash (13.05) and Emily Bartow won the 100 hurdles (17.29). Bartow also took first in the 300 hurdles (51.34).
