12 Highland athletes score academic All-American honors

FREEPORT — Twelve Highland Community College student-athletes were named to the NJCAA Academic All-American Teams for the 2017-18 school year.

First team honors, for athletes with a 4.0 GPA, were Matthew Pfeiffer, Freeport, and Makenzie Robieson, Orangeville. Pfeiffer is on the bowling team, while Robieson plays volleyball and softball for the Cougars.

Student-athletes with a GPA between 3.80-3.99 are second-team All-Americans, which include Emily Suiter, Mount Carroll, Illinois, women’s bowling; Hallie Nauman, Amboy, Illinois, volleyball; Seongsoo (Austin) Park, South Korea, golf; and Kelsey Bollon, Orangeville, softball.

Third team honors go to student-athletes with a GPA between 3.60-3.79. Highland athletes receiving third team All-America status are Brandon Brown, Elizabeth, Illinois, baseball; Allison Weegens, Lena, volleyball; Courtney Haas, Stockton, Illinois, volleyball; Lauren Cramer, Dakota, Illinois, softball; Kylie Fransen, Freeport, softball; and Daniel Duda, Freeport, men’s bowling.

Brown and Park are repeat NJCAA Academic All-Americans.
