William “Bill” Raymond Sorenson, 79 of Bloomer, Wisconsin passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
He was born in Merrill, Wisconsin to Armond and Elisabeth (Teubert) Sorenson. Bill graduated from Monroe High School in 1964. He then attended barber school at Eau Claire Vocational School. He worked as a barber and eventually owned his own barber shop in Brodhead, Wisconsin. He finished his working career at Jennie-O-Turkey store in Barron, Wisconsin. He retired in 2008.
On November 5, 1966, Bill married Karen Marie Krueger and then again on November 30, 1995. Together they raised two children, Carrie (Sorenson) Ruf and William Sorenson in Brodhead Wisconsin until they moved to Bloomer, Wisconsin in 1977.
Bill loved to spend his time fishing, hunting, bowling, and golfing. He also loved watching Wisconsin sports such as the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers. His most precious memories were made spending time with his grandchildren and attending their school activities and sporting events.
He is survived by his wife; children, Carrie (Jerry) Ruf and Bill (Heather) Sorenson; grandchildren, Micah (Whitney) Ruf, Elisabeth (Tanner) Prill, Marissa (Jonathan) Craver, Caleb Ruf (Kali Risler), Ashton Erickson (Chantel Hardwick), and Jude Sorenson (Jake Williams); great-grandchildren, Theodore and Luella Ruf, and Greyson Craver. Also by a brother, Dave (Dianna) Sorenson, sister, Lynda Fernstaedt, sisters’ in-law, Nancy Loiselle, Judy (Loren) Schmidt, and Gloria Petska. He also leaves his half-sisters, Pat (Joe) Kuhar, Bunny DeGarmo, and Mary Ann Sperry, all of Janesville as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill will also be missed by his dear friends, Cork & Ginger of over 50 years, and his best four-legged friend, “Ellie."
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws; two brothers-in-law, William “Buzz” Loiselle and Morrie Petska; three nephews, Scott Sorenson, Eric Fernstaedt, and Pieter Graaskamp; and one niece, Cindy Nazer.
A memorial visitation for Bill will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, 1806 17th Avenue, Bloomer, WI 54724 on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 9 to 11 AM. A memorial service will follow IN THE FUNERAL HOME at 11 AM. A luncheon will be held at Harvesttime Church on HWY 64 starting at 12 noon.
