William (Bill) Gene Reed, 78 of Davis, IL, passed away on October 8, 2025 at home surrounded by his family.

Born June 16, 1947 in Morrison, IL, Bill was the son of William F. and Marjorie Reed. He graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1965. On April 23, 1966, Bill married his high school sweetheart, Sally Elaine Gale.

Together they shared 46 years together, farming in the state line area until Sally’s passing in 2012. After her passing, he continued faming until his passing.

Bill served in the United States Army from 1966-1968. He loved his family and truly enjoyed watching his grandchildren. Bill’s family would like to thank nurse Kelly and the hospice team at SSM Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.

Survivors include his children, Carla (Tim) Bridges of Scottsdale, AZ, Sue (Curt) Szymanski of Durand, IL, and Rick (Sara) Reed of Orangeville, IL; sisters, Penny Bear of Cedar Rapids, IA, Dorothy Hayes and Debbie Reed both of Monroe, WI; brother-in-law, Wayne (Martha) Gate of Winnebago, IL; grandchildren, Paige (Tanner Harker) Bridges, James (Rachel) Bridges, Jacob (Jessica) Szymanski, and Elise Szymanski; extra grandchildren, Abigail, Zachary, & Mitchell Isely; and great grandsons, Nathan & Carter Bridges, Cayden Szymanski, Cam Harker, and two more on the way.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally; parents, William & Marjorie; in-laws, Howard & Maurine Gale; brother, Richard L. Reed; and sister, Marjorie Niesman.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. At the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota, IL. A memorial fund has been established for SSM Health Hospice. Condolences may be shared at www.walkermortuary.com.
