Wendy J. Tschudy, age 61, of Monroe died on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at her home after a battle with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). Wendy Nelson was born on April 22, 1964 in Monroe, the daughter of Linda (Beutel) and Richard Nelson. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1982. Wendy attended college at MATC, UW- Platteville, and Cardinal Stritch College, earning three degrees while working multiple part-time jobs.
Both Wendy and David Tschudy worked at the Green County Sheriff’s Department when their paths crosse again. They married on May 8, 1999 at Primrose Lutheran Church, rural Belleville. They celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2024.
Wendy moved from the Sheriff Dept. to the courthouse as deputy at Register of Deeds and then as Deputy County Clerk for more than 18 years. She also worked for the Village of New Glarus as Deputy Clerk-Treasurer from 2019 until the end of 2021.
She was a bookkeeper for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Green County from 2010 to 2022, Wendy was also a volunteered for fundraisers and as a Big Sister from 2003-2010 to Sean and 2010-2017 to Bailey. BBBS was a huge part of her life and is a wonderful organization that benefits the youth of the country. She was a Board member for Gap Church Museum since 2010, Wendy also assisted with events and fundraisers to preserve and maintain the pioneer 1856 church building and cemetery. This was a very personal role, with many of her ancestors buried under the shade of the maple forest there. She enjoyed researching those buried there and sharing their stories in the annual newsletter and occasional cemetery walk.
Dave and Wendy built a house on the family farm in 2002, and mowed walking trails through the former pasture and field connecting the family homes. Then they realized another dream when they bought a small cabin in the woods in northern Wisconsin in 2011, on twenty acres of woods for hunting. Time spent at the cabin was special, even when it was a lot of work on projects. Her interest included genealogy, history, reading, photography, crafting especially card making, scrapbooking, and crocheting. She also enjoyed hiking and walking with the dog, our last dog being beloved golden retriever, Lexy. Wendy loved to watch Green Bay Packer football, Milwaukee Brewers baseball, and Minnesota Wild hockey.
