Wayne Stemple, age 64 of Albany, passed away unexpectedly on
Friday, December 7, 2018. Wayne was born August 7, 1954 in Elgin, Illinois to
Paul and Marilyn (Volkmann) Stemple. He was the oldest of five children. He
attended high school in Carpentersville and Elgin Community College before
joining the U.S. Air Force, where he served in Vietnam.
Wayne married Carol Wetter on August 11, 1984. They have three children, Rachel
(Greg) Schardt, Denise (David) French, and Andrew Stemple.
Wayne worked most recently at Oxford Life as a computer programmer. When he
wasn’t working, he was always on the go and enjoyed geocaching with friends and
finding new trails to bike. July was always his favorite time of the year when
he would help shoot fireworks in area shows. Wayne was always entertained by
his grandchildren and enjoyed taking his wife to the movies. He was delighted
to take part in the Badger Honor Flight this spring.
Wayne is survived by his wife and children, grandchildren: Chase, Abigail, Ian,
Jonathan, Kayden, Sara, and Elliott, his mother, and siblings: Larry (Sandy),
Bruce (Patti), Brian (Debbie), and Lynn (Randy) Colsen, and several nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, and
granddaughter Emily.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home
on Saturday, December 15, 2018. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time
of the service. Wayne will be interred at Hillcrest Cemetery in Albany. A
luncheon will follow the graveside service.
The family wishes to thank Albany EMS, Monroe Clinic Hospital, and MedFlight
for their exceptional care during Wayne’s final hours.
