Wayne M. Mau, age 79, of Browntown passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024 at SSM Health Monroe Hospital.  He was born on November 6, 1944 the son of Milton and Avis (Berget) Mau.  He graduated from South Wayne High School.  After high school Wayne entered the United States Army, where he was enlisted from 1963-1966.  He was united in marriage to Marilyn Kleven on January 7, 2007 in Wichita, KS. 

Wayne worked for RT Madden and later Mann Brothers as a heavy equipment operator.  Wayne continued to serve his peers as a Business Agent for Local 139, where he assisted many in starting their careers and building better lives. His commitment to the union was unwavering, as evidenced by his lifelong membership in Local 139.  He was a proud member of the American Legion in Winslow Post 592.  His love for dirt track racing was more than a hobby; it was a passion that spanned over four decades. As a dedicated fan, Wayne was a familiar face in the World of Outlaw Racing community. 

Known for his love of life and his ability to bring people together, Wayne often hosted impromptu gatherings he called "safety meetings." They were filled with laughter, teasing, and the kind of camaraderie that only Wayne could inspire. His infectious humor and love for socializing will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was an avid ATV enthusiast, sharing this joy with his wife, Marilyn, who became equally hooked on the adventure. His love for the outdoors was evident in his deer and pheasant hunting trips. Wayne also found peace and companionship driving with his dogs, a simple pleasure that brought him immense joy.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons, Michael (Kelly) Croft, Thomas (Marjorie) Mau, Neil (Angela Powers) Mau, Derek (Melissa) Schwenn, Darren Schwenn, and Ryan (Paula) Schwenn; grandchildren, Erica (Walter) Farfań, Ryan (Cari) Croft, Tyler Croft, Caitlin (Thomas Tobias) Mau, Dawson Mau, Wynter Mau, Logan Mau, Marshall Powers, Lillian Schwenn, and Reagen Schwenn; great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Violeta Farfań, Matthew Croft; sister-in-law, Pauline Mau; brothers-in-law, Thomas (Marla Carruth) Kleven and Clifford (Kim) Kleven; mother of Michael and Neil, Judy Mau; dogs, Ethel and Patches; cats, Isabelle and Junior; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Vickie Mau; and brothers, David and Allan Mau.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home; followed by a Graveside Service with military honors at West Wiota Lutheran Cemetery with Pastor Clayton Faulkner officiating.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.
