Wayne E. Gille, age 76 of Monroe, died Saturday, October 26, 2024 at his home. He was born on August 28, 1948 in Monroe, the son of Leo and Hilda (Schlafli) Gille, Jr. Wayne graduated from Monroe High School in 1967. Wayne and Christine Achterberg were married in 1967 at St. Victor’s Catholic Church. Wayne was a 3rd generation painter, working for over 50 years, and still painting up till a couple of months ago. Wayne also worked part time as a Bartender at Ludlow Bar and The Steak Shack; he also worked part time at Brennan’s Market.

     He was a member of St. Victors Catholic Church of St. Clare of Assisi Parish. He loved to take care of his house and his yard, doing all the landscaping him-self; and making sure everything was painted correctly, he even painted the sidewalk and driveway. Wayne was a huge Elvis fan, and in 2015 took a trip with his daughter and son-in-law, to Graceland. 

     He is survived by his daughters, Tina (Wyatt) Foesch of Lake Summerset, Il and Amber Hughes of Sun Prairie, WI; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda (Bob) Flanagan of Monroe, and Tammie Wartenweiler of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Roger.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00pm Noon on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at St. Victor’s Catholic Church with Fr. Dave Carrano as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Monroe. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service, at the Church. Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
