Virginia A. Mayer age 91 of Monroe died Saturday October 11, 2025 at home. She was born on October 20, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of William and Lenore (Ganshert) Bosshart. She graduated from St. Alverna Catholic High School. Virginia married Delbert G. Mayer on November 5, 1955 in Chicago. Virginia started out working as a secretary for the Arch Diocese of Chicago; after moving to South Wayne, WI she was a secretary at Black Hawk School for a couple of years, and then worked for the Bank of South Wayne for over 25 years, retiring in 1998. She was a member of St. Victors Catholic Church, and enjoyed playing the piano. In her later years she enjoyed target shooting, antique shops and taking road trips.

She is survived by her sons: Robert (Stacie) Mayer of Bensenville, Il, David (Tina) Mayer of Avoca, WI and Stephen (Kim) Mayer of Waunakee, WI; Daughter-in-law, Diane Mayer of Freeport, Il; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Roberta Size of Elgin, IL; nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, John.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday October 20, 2025 at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Fr. Chahm Gahng Celebrating. Burial will be in St. Josephs cemetery in Gratiot. A visitation will be held Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service, at the Church. Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
