Vincent (Jerry) Conway, affectionately known as “Red”, age 84, of Monroe, died Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Jerry was born on August 1, 1937 in Adams Township to Vincent and Nellie (Corbin) Conway. He attended Argyle schools and served in the National Guard for two years.

Jerry and Connie Sonnenburg were married on February 15, 1958 in Juda. He was employed as the head mechanic at Dearth Motors for 40 years and while his children were young, Jerry also worked nights at the Swiss Colony. Following his retirement from Dearth’s, Jerry worked for 12 years at the Monroe Park and Rec before retiring completely in 2012. Jerry and Connie enjoyed camping with friends for over 20 years, socializing with their card club, and traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and Ireland. Their favorite destinations were the World’s Fair, Space Needle, Rose Bowl, and Alaska. He loved spending time with his children and their families. He and Connie had the pleasure of raising a grandson and great grandson. Jerry had many interests including cheering on the Packers, Badgers, Cubs, watching NASCAR, and listening to Daniel O’Donnell. He enjoyed going to local sporting events especially when his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren would compete.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Connie Conway; three children, Tammy (Marco) Bregenzer, Jeff “Twitty” (Diane) Conway, Brenda (Lonnie) Grinnell; grandchildren, Chris (Amber) Zimmerman, Tasha Grinnell, Liz Bregenzer, Eric Bregenzer; step-grandchildren, Meghan (Brent) Schramer, Courtney (Jason) Jeremiason, Mitchell (Nora) Daubert; great grandchildren, Cameron, Piper, Brayden, Jaydalynn, McKayla, Bryant; step-great grandchildren, Aleda, Henry, Arthur, Kinlee, Clovie, Ivorie, and Roy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Lucy (Nathan) Keegan, and Ellen McMurray.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, with Pastor Joe Corbin officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund will be established in Jerry’s name.
