Susan Marie Douglas, 74, died Sunday, July 13, 2025 at SSM Hospital, Monroe WI. Susan was born September 16, 1950 in Monroe, the daughter of Roger Douglas and Magdalene (Foesch) Douglas. Susan was part of the Class of 1968 in Brodhead, WI. Due to a serious automobile accident in 1968, she wasn’t able to graduate with her class, but she did obtain a GED at a later date.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents Roger Douglas, May 18, 1980 and Magdalene (Foesch) Douglas, November 30, 1972, and a brother John Maurer, Ohio, November 5, 2017.
Surviving siblings include: Tom Maurer, Paul Douglas, Scott Douglas (Frieda), Matt Douglas (Holly), and Lora Douglas (Guy Stamm).
Surviving nieces (in above sibling order) include: Jennifer, Rebecca, Ember, Nikole, Kandice, Leanne, Leah, Maggie, Kayla, Ashley and Kelly.
Surviving nephews include: Jason, Lance, Daniel, Jordan and Jesse.
During her stay at Pleasant View, Sue joined every activity and loved to sing along to old songs and share a greeting with everyone she knew. She also could remember most people by name. She said once she didn’t know why she was spared in the car accident. Anybody that knew Sue would know exactly why. She was quick to smile and have a good laugh, she was a ray of sunshine. She took to heart what her mother told her after her car accident. She repeated it like this: “Ma always said it could always be worse.” She did the best she could with what she had. Sue was a great example of looking for the bright side of any situation. She made an impact on so many people, she will surely be missed.
Sue’s family would like to thank Pleasant View Nursing Home and SSM Hospital for their loving care.
A Celebration of Susan’s Life will be held at Shriner-Hagar-Gohlke Funeral Home, Monroe on Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
