Steven L. “Steve” Nethery, age 62 of rural Shullsburg, WI passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at his home in rural Shullsburg. He was born April 23, 1958 in Darlington, WI the son of William and Marvelle (Smaethers) Nethery. Steve grew up in the Darlington and Gratiot area where he graduated from Black Hawk High School. Following his graduation from high school, Steve attended Southwest Technical College in Fennimore, WI where he received his welding degree. Steve was united in marriage to Lori Gleason-Grant on November 3, 2012 at Community Evangelical Free Church in rural Shullsburg.
Steve is survived by his wife Lori at home; one son: Josh (Ashley) Nethery of rural Shullsburg; his grandchildren that he adored: Logan, Emily, and Mya Nethery; and three sisters: Tammy (Robert) Curran and Tina (Danny) Ubersox both of Shullsburg, and Terri (Scott Towne) Nethery of Dousman, WI; and his pets: Orea, Gracie, Myley, Kayley, Angel and Flossy. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: David Nethery; and one sister: Billie Jo Nethery.
Steve cherished his family and the time they spent together more than anything else in the world. He enjoyed listening to music whenever he could. He loved all his cats and dogs but held a special spot for Myley and Flossy. Steve will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (235 N. Judgement St., Shullsburg) with Rev. Nick J. McElrath of First Baptist Church in Darlington, WI officiating. A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2020 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Steve’s name.
Although not required, it is the recommendation of the funeral home staff that masks are worn during the duration of your visit inside of the church and that you practice proper social distancing guidelines.
