Steven F. Krattiger, age 76, of Brodhead, died on Monday, January 5, 2026 at SSM Monroe Hospital. Steve was born on August 26, 1949 in Monroe, the son of Frederick and Emma (Wieland) Krattiger. He graduated from Monroe High School and attended barber school in Madison. Steve and Judith Springsted were married on Sept. 7, 1972 at St. John’s UCC, Monroe. Judith passed away on March 16, 2006. Steve was united in marriage to Vicki Brobst on June 26, 2010 at the Congregational UCC in Brodhead.
Steve worked at a barber’s apprentice in Monroe and eventually owned his own shops in Evansville and Footville until 1981. He finished his working career managing a local mutual insurance office until retiring in 2012. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Decatur Lake Country Club for many years. He was a lover of Road Rallys, gardening with his Kubota tractor, and taking road trips with Vicki.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki; four children, Matt (Rose), Brett, Dena, James (Jessica), all of Brodhead; six grandchildren, Zoe, Harper, Lennon, Ireland, Rowan, and Kolton. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judith; and a brother, James. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, MONROE, followed by a graveside service in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor John Tabaka officiating.
