Stephen D. “Steve” Krupke, age 74, of Monroe, died on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at the Mayo Clinic. Steve was born on February 4, 1951 in Monroe, the son of Delbert and Rosemarie (Trumpy) Krupke. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1970 and achieved bachelor degrees in drama from U.W. Stevens Point and in K-12 secondary education from U.W. Whitewater. He taught special education in the Monroe School district and substitute taught in Juda for a few years. During the 1980’s, Steve worked at Korkey’s Zephyr, his father’s gas station on 13th Street. During the 1990’s Steve was employed as a cashier at Monroe’s Stop-N-Go. He was actively involved in Boy Scouts and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. Steve was an avid reader and when his eyesight began to fail he enjoyed listening to audiobooks.
Steve is survived by two sons, Jacob “Jay” Krupke (Hannah West) and Bradley David Beyer; grandson, Declan; his mother, Rosemarie Krupke; a brother, Kevin Krupke; and a sister, Rodell (Terry) Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert “Korkey” Krupke in 2008; and sister-in-law, Jacqueline “Jackie” Krupke in 2023.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., at the Monroe American Legion Post #84. Private burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe.
