Shirley R. Stamm age 75 of Monroe, died peacefully Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Monroe Clinic Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 29, 1944 in Norwalk, WI, the daughter of Gilbert and Ruth (Burrows) Friske. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1962. Shirley and George Stamm were married on October 6, 1962. Shirley was a Teacher’s Aid and helped in the kitchen and also served as a crossing guard for the Monroe School district for 43 years, retiring in 2017. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church; she enjoyed sewing, redecorating and wallpapering. Shirley loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by her children: Dawn and Traci Stamm both of Monroe, Angie (Bob) Flannery of Waunakee, Wendi (Derek) Obday of Reedsburg; 2 granddaughters: Caitie and Alivia Flannery; 5 step-granddaughters: Anne, Naomi, Rebekah, Elizabeth, and Moriah Obday; 2 step-grandsons: Joe and Gideon Obday; sister: Charlene (Roger) Gable of Baraboo, WI, brother: Don (Carol) Friske of Monroe; brother-in-law, Terry (Carol) Stamm of Mursfreeboro, TN; sister-in-laws: Rena Young, Monroe, and Kay Bunn of Paris, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Ronald Friske; brother-in-laws: Bill Bunn, Wayne and Robert Stamm, and Dick Young; sister-in-law, Sue Brick; nephews: Mike Swan, Chris Gable, Bradley Brick and Peter Young.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery, Monroe. A visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home, and Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service, at the church.
