Sharon Pickett, age 80, passed into serenity on Thursday, May 1, 2025. She was able to remain at home due to her caring partner, Annie and the SSM Health Home Care team.
On April 29th Sharon celebrated 43 years of sobriety. During that time she counseled and advised many individuals, chaired treatment and jail programs and spread herself throughout the AA community.
Sharon Mae Pickett was born on August 27, 1944 to Clarence and Carole (Bandt) Gethers. She was born in Newport, Rhode Island.
As a baby she appeared on the Ralph Edwards Truth or Consequences radio show where they surprised her father who was an active duty Naval man. Sharon attended school in Milwaukee and grew up with street cars, beaches, and the glow of the city.
Sharon had a wide variety of jobs in her lifetime. She retired from the Swiss Colony Bakery after twenty years. After that she was employed at Parkside in the cafeteria and loved interacting with the elementary children.
She and Robert Greene were high school sweethearts and wed in their teenage years. They were the parents of three children. Later she married Roger Pickett and they enjoyed several years together until his death in 1996.
In 1997 she met Annie and they became lifelong best friends and partners in life. They traveled the United States extensively and spent much time in the Door County area. Concerts, plays, restaurant exploring and camping were all part of their life together. Sharon enjoyed reading, movies and researching World War II events.
Sharon is survived by Annie, a daughter Theresa (Dan) Powell and son John (Suzanne) Greene. Also grandchildren, Stephanie, Christine, Michael, Jackie, and Jessie; and eight great grandchildren.
Her beloved cat, Audie who is 18 years old, will miss her terribly.
She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Roger; son, Ronald Greene; sister, Debra Staat; and brother Richard Gethers.
