Sally Lou (McKibben) Kahl died at her home in Monroe WI on Monday June 17, 2024. She was born November 3, 1949, one of 10 children to Jack and Anna (Holland) McKibben.  She attended Red Rock Grade School, Darlington High School, and Blackhawk Tech.

Sally married Mike Kahl on July 27, 1968, in Darlington WI. They made their home in Gratiot, WI. Together they had 4 children; Lauranna (Jim) Placek, Bend, Oregon; Tina Kahl, Ladysmith, WI; Valerie (George) Scott, Crawfordsville, IN, and Michael Kahl.

She loved and adored her grandchildren, Amanda, Karly, Alicia, Ashley, Olivia, Marcus, and two great-grandchildren, Paislee and Trenton.

Sally was a former employee of the Swiss Colony, having worked in the bakery and in customer service. She also worked for St. Vincent de Paul. She was a successful Tupperware Consultant and Home Interior Consultant for many years. Sally worked in various home health type positions throughout her life.

Sally was a former member of the Gratiot Fireman’s Auxiliary, American legion Auxiliary Post 105, the Bag Ladies, Red Hat Society, and The Friends of Woodford Park Society. Her hard work and dedication were pivotal in its successful induction of the Pecatonica battlefield as a registered historical marker in June of 2013.  She was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and flower arranging, crafting, needle point, sewing, and gambling. She loved having a good cup of coffee with great friends at the Red Apple.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mike; son Michael; brothers Jack, David, Jessie, and Leroy; sister, Georgia; sister-in-law, Donna; both parents and mother and father-in-law.

Sally is survived by her daughters, grandchildren, 1 sister, 3 brothers, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and great friends. 

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Noon 12:00 PM at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com

Marcella “Marcie” Ann Hartwig, of Browntown, passed away at the age of 71 on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at SSM Hospice Home in Monroe after facing pancreatic cancer. She was born July 9th, 1953, to Alvin and Lois (Ditsworth) Niesman in Freeport, Illinois.

Marcie grew up in the Le-Win area (IL) and was known as “Mouse” by her friends. She was a CNA for over 30 years and had an in-home daycare while her children were young. After a short, year-long retirement, she decided to return to work and enjoyed the last few years working at local childcare centers. Marcie loved music (especially the oldies), dancing, and could often be found working on word finds and crossword puzzles.

Marcie married Gary Hartwig in June of 2000. She is survived by her husband, Gary, Browntown; daughters, Darla (Amy) Estes, Madison, and Karen (Nathaniel Paulson) Steinmann, Monroe; son, Jared (Nicoal) Steinmann, Monroe; stepsons, Chad (Tammy) Hartwig and Shane (Tonya) Hartwig, both of Monroe; thirteen grandchildren, Gottlieb (Natasha Teasdale) Brandli III, Mina (Zach Kralic) Krieger, Trevor Hartwig, Camden Steinmann, Blake Steinmann, Aristotle Krieger, Oliver Krieger, Paige Steinmann, Vivien Krieger, Azaria Hartwig, and Shamiria, Amere, and Nevaeh Estes; one great grandson, Gottlieb Brandli IV; a sister, Kathie (Mike) Roling, Dubuque IA; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Marcie was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Lois Niesman in 2021; sister, Peggy (Niesman) Duitsman in 2015; and infant brother, Greg Niesman in 1965.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 1329 31st. Ave., Monroe, with Reverend Paul Gregersen officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the Monroe American Legion Post #84. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 16, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund will be established in Marcie’s name.
