Ronald Martini, age 80 of Monroe passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the New Glarus Nursing Home. He was born the son of August and Eileen (Elmer) Martini on June 17, 1941 in Dixon, IL, the first of three children. He graduated from Albany High School. Ronald was married to Vicky Martin and together they had two children. He was later united in marriage to Karen Bauman on October 17, 2003 in Monroe.
Ronald was a farmer in Green County for most of his life. After the sale of their family farm, he worked as head custodian for the Monroe Middle School, retiring in May 2003. After retiring, Ronald’s love of farming prevailed. He spent much of his spare time helping neighboring farmers with anything from spring planting to fall harvest. Ronald loved farming for many reasons, one being that it teaches life lessons early. Those lessons regarding the unjustness of nature, the pay from perseverance, the redemption found in faith and hard work, the value of honesty, and the lasting impact of friendships formed through the lifestyle. Farming is a passion, a devoted and honorable way of life that ran deep in Ronald’s heart.
Ronald enjoyed countless hunting and fishing trips with his brother and friends along with traveling. He and his sister enjoyed reminiscing the good old days. Card playing was also a favorite past time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart. From long talks about farming to rides on the lawnmower to giving York peppermint patties and then stealing them away, his most cherished time was with his grandchildren. Ronald was also a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church, the Moose Lodge and president of the Monroe Stamp Club.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Erin (Pete) Blum of Monroe, Shanon (Kelly) Gore of California, Jaime (Barry Sievers) Bauman of Belleville, and Dan (Denise) Bauman of Monroe; sister, Mary Martini of Arizona; sister-in-law, Lynne Martini of North Carolina; nieces and nephews, Lana Martini King, Dale August Martini, Meghan Dunphy, Lonn Dunphy, and 8 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Alan Martini.
