Roger M. Flannery, age 87, passed away on October 9, 2024, peacefully at home. Roger was born at home on September 12, 1937. He received his early education at Banner School House, in rural Argyle, WI, and graduated from Argyle High School in 1955. In 1958, he married Phyllis (Alexander) at St. Victor's Church in Monroe, WI. A lifelong farmer, Roger initially farmed in Juda, WI for nine years before dedicating 52 years to farming west of Brodhead, WI, in Decatur Township. Roger had a passion for social activities, playing cards at least once a week with friends or at local card clubs. He was also an avid bowler, showcasing his skills in both Men’s and Couples' leagues in Brodhead, Monroe, and Albany. A devoted grandfather, he rarely missed any of his grandchildren's events. Additionally, Roger was a dedicated sports fan, faithfully supporting the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers. Roger is survived by his wife Phyllis Flannery (Alexander), son Brian (Rhonda) Flannery of Albany, WI, sister-in-law Janet Flannery of Argle, WI, Grandkids; Subhas (Sydnee Perkins) of Albany, WI; Radhika Haffelder (Andrew) of Hunterville, NC; Jada and Raj of Albany, WI; Great Grandkids Summer Flannery and Erin Dallman; and also many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Roger was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Nora Flannery, father and mother-in-law, Darrell and Lucille (Fries) Alexander, brother Dean Flannery, sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Ralph Wilhelmson, and brother-in-law “Cork” Donald Alexander. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to caregiver Leah Foley, the dedicated team at Joyce’s Home Care, Kathy and Terry Regenold, and SSM Hospice Nurse Kelly for their compassionate support and care.
Roger was buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Brodhead, WI.
