Robert William Holst, Sr. age 65, of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at his home. He was born on February 27, 1954, the son of Harold and Betty (Lohse) Holst in Chicago. Robert attended schools in the Chicago area.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Hope Parker on February 14, 1983. At the age of 18 Robert enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country for two years. When he returned home, he started working for GM in Janesville, he later retired after 38 years of dedicated work. Robert and his wife Patricia opened their home and were foster parents to many children in need; they also adopted three of their foster children as well.

Robert was a member of Monroe Moose Lodge #754. He enjoyed bowling, he was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan, and he would never miss a chance to watch WWE wrestling.

Robert is survived by his children, Robert Holst, Jr., Suzanne (Mike) Strothman, Dan (Carrie Thompson) Holst, and Dave (Cynthia) Holst all of Monroe; step-children, Lance Maltby of Wyocena, Adam (Angie) Maltby of Monroe, and Cristi (Mike Miller) Maltby of Wyocena; his three adopted children, Amy, Deserie, and Molly Holst; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth (Kathy) Holst of Whitewater and Brian (Sarah) Holst of Menomonee Falls; and one sister, Marianne (Kurt) Wallace of Whitewater.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; daughter, Samantha Holst in infancy; and a brother, Wayne Holst.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home. Burial will take place following service in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.
