Robert John Stauffer age 89, of Browntown, died Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born on January 7, 1931 the son of John and Bertha (Peterson) Stauffer. Robert was a 1950 graduate of South Wayne High School.

Robert served in the Korean War as an Air Force mechanic.

Robert and Joyce Stauffacher were united in marriage on March 21, 1959 in Dubuque, Iowa.

Robert and Joyce purchased a farm south of Browntown and farmed their entire life until retiring in 1989. He was a member of Peace Church in Christ in Browntown.

He enjoyed bowling and also enjoyed playing baseball, where he played for the American Legion and the Home Talent Leaque.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Browntown; children: Joy Trumble of Monroe, Jayne ( Randy) Howald of Forreston, IL, Jim Stauffer of Browntown, Jeff Stauffer of Monroe, and Julie (Steve) Gottschalk of DeForrest, WI; 6 grandchildren: Brooke (Rob) Henderson, Marcy and Bruce Trumble, Austin, Hans, and Maxwell Howald; 1 great-grandson, Sawyer Trumble; and 1 step great-grandson, Connor Henderson; brother, William (Joyce) Stauffer and sister, Dorothy Holloway both of Monroe.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Laverne Stauffer and sister, Yvonne Jackson.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Peace Church in Christ, in Browntown, with Pastor Scott Cernek officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 2nd from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Peace Church in Christ in Browntown or Browntown Fire Department.
