Robert Eugene Strehlow, age 86, passed away on April 18, 2023 while at the Monroe Health Services Nursing Home in Monroe, WI.
Robert (Bob) was born on July 22, 1936 in Juda, WI the son of Edwin and Alvinia (Wietzke).
Bob married his one and only, Mary Lou Sproul on December 31, 1955.
He drove milk truck, did fencing for area farmers and worked for many years as an award winning cheesemaker for the Golden Rod– Stella factory, then finally the Universal Food Group out of Madison before retiring. Bob was an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter. Passions he passed on to his family. He will be forever be remembered for his Goodbye phrase of “Drive like hell you’ll get there faster”.
Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Lou Strehlow; 5 children, Sherri (Doug) Hawkins, Rory (Beth) Strehlow, Randy (Karen) Strehlow, Tamara (Tami) Adams (Bill Gnacek) and Bobette Gadow (Jamie Fahrney); 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Kirchhoff and many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Syndi Strehlow, a grandson, Tyler Strehlow and five siblings, Chester, Raymond, Lillian, Bill and Leroy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family in his memory.
Memorial services will be held at the DL Newcomer Funeral Home in Brodhead on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM. A visitation will also be held at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Burial will conclude at the Greenwood Cemetery.
