Entered the Fullness of Eternal Life on April 29th, 2021, at the age of 98. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Joy O'Meara. Loving father of David O'Meara, Mary Joy "MJ" (Jon Spelt) O'Meara, Monica (Mark Szaflarski) O'Meara, Anne (Mike) O'Meara Stillwell, Jack (Bridget) O'Meara, Jane (Alan Purintun) O'Meara. Proud grandfather of Jen Joy (Sara Pentlicky), Charlie, Irene, and Joe Stephenson; Emily and Anna Szaflarski; Edward (Erica Coleman) and Eileen O'Meara Stillwell; Grace, Margaret, and Suzanne O'Meara; and Charlotte Purintun. Cherished great-grandfather of Ellery Joy. Preceded in death by his two sisters, Lois and Kathleen, and two brothers, William and Richard. Robert is further survived by other loving relatives and friends.

Robert "Bob" was born in Monroe, Wisconsin on July 13, 1922, son of the late William L. and Grace Anne (nee Gibbons) O'Meara. The family later moved to Madison where Robert graduated from West High School and the University of Wisconsin School of Journalism. Robert served his country in the Army Air Force during World War II in Italy and Africa. Robert married Margaret "Peg" Joy of Monroe on June 1, 1953, in St. Victor's Church. He was a reporter and editor for The Associated Press in Milwaukee for 39 years, and was inducted into the Milwaukee Press Club Media Hall of Fame in 1996. Along with being a talented writer, Bob excelled at art from an early age. He made drawing and painting an integral part of his life. He won many awards and participated in countless exhibits. His paintings are in many private collections and are also treasured by his family and friends.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 6th, from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at St. Robert Catholic Church, 2214 E. Capitol Dr., in Shorewood. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following at 11:00AM. Private interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. The Mass will be live streamed.
