Robert “Bob” Lee Rufi, age 82, of Monroe passed away on Saturday, August 20th, 2022 at SSM Health Monroe Hospital. He was born the son of John W. Rufi and Eva Bacon Rufi on August 19th, 1940 in Monroe. Bob was an avid learner—he started school at 4-years-old at Greenbush County School simply because he relentlessly showed up at the school house daily—and graduated from Monroe Senior High School. Bob married Barbara Louise Schultz at United Methodist Church Monroe on December 22, 1957.
Bob was raised in Monroe, WI on the farm he built his life, family, and career on. He was passionate about curling and antique cars. Bob was a member of the Alpine Curling Club for 42 years and made ice for them for 40. Bob obtained a certificate as a Level I Ice Technician from Curl Canada in 1985. He was proudly known as the “Ice Maker.” Bob was a member of the Yester Year Auto Club and won many trophies for the showing of the antique cars he repaired. Bob’s laughter and jokes will be deeply missed.
Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara Rufi, and his five children, Rev. Dr. Michael of Monroe, WI, Kathy (Don) Austin of Platteville, WI, Deb of Monroe, WI, Jim (Stephanie) Rufi of St. Paul, MN, and Mark (Tricia) Rufi of Lexington, KY; 11 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his grandson, Shaun Robert Rufi; parents, brother, and sister.
