Robert A. Wuetrich, age 96 (almost 97), passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024 at his home in Monroe from advanced Dementia complications. The family is thankful that he was able to live until the very end in his own home, with the help of loving family.
Robert “Bobby” was born in Monroe, Green County, Wisconsin as the oldest of two children, and the son of Albert and Frieda (Trickle) Wuetrich. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1944 and became a third-generation dairy farmer on the farm just south of Clarno. In January 1947, Bobby married Colletta Devoe and together they farmed and raised three sons, Larry, Steve, and Greg. In 1980, the farm was sold and Bobby moved to Monroe, where he had a landscaping and snow removal business for many years.
Bobby had a zest for life and that was reflected in the many friends he had over the years. He took up golf late in life and became fairly accomplished at it. More importantly, he and his friends had so much fun playing golf at Windy Acres and Monroe Golf Club. He also took many golf vacations/trips, mainly to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where even more fun was had. He was the subject of a feature article in the Monroe Evening Times that showcased him golfing into his 80’s. He got his first hole-in-one at age 83, then again at age 86, then again at age 89. Of course, he enjoyed bragging about it to anyone who would listen. He also was a great dancer, especially of the polka variety, and was a regular over the years at Turner Hall and the New Glarus Hotel. Bobby was also a very good card player, mainly playing euchre or pinochle, and enjoyed winning money, even though the stakes were generally pretty modest.
Bobby loved his kids and grandkids, and loved hearing about their various successes, regardless of the magnitude. He was very proud of his three sons, and did not hesitate to tell everyone. Bobby is survived by his three sons, Larry (Deena) of Lansing Michigan, Steve (Joyce) of Madison, and Greg (Connie) of Monroe. There are also 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, as well as 3 nieces and a nephew. Bobby was preceded in death by wife Colletta, sister Betty (Hank) Ritschard, and special friend Irma.
Funeral services will be held on November 9, 2024 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, Monroe, with Rev. JoAnn Meyer officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Following the service, there will also be a luncheon at the Moose Lodge at 639 3rd Avenue in Monroe. Any memorial donations will be given to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, the Alzheimer’s Association, and Monroe Hospice.
A special thanks to SSM HomeCare and Hospice, Kristi, Darcy, Kelly, Brenda, Wendy, Raelynn, and Val for the compassionate care Bob and his family received.
