Richard L. Westgard

Richard L. Westgard, age 56, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, June 21, 2021. He was born February 16, 1965, to Loudon and Gladys (Frei) Westgard in Monroe, WI. He graduated Monroe High School in 1983 and then attended Blackhawk Tech and received his F.C.C. License. He married Dodi Ann Wild on July 21, 1990, in Monticello, WI. Richard was currently the Service Manager at General Communications in Madison, where he was employed for 31 years. Growing up, he was in the Boy Scouts and proud to be an Eagle Scout who went to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

Together, he and Dodi built a life full of joy and wonderful adventures near and far with their daughters. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he cherished spoiling them with everything and anything. They have many friends that have become family, and he could make a friend out of anyone he met; proven by all the family he made at Baummies and Bartels. He enjoyed many things, including home brewing, gardening, thrill rides, cooking, traveling, hunting, golfing, and was an avid Packer fan. Rich was also a member of the Monroe Theater Guild. He was the go-to guy for any and all random projects and was always up for the challenge. Rich was always kind, always generous in everything he did.

He is survived by his wife, Dodi Westgard of Monroe; daughters, Laci (Chris Erb) Westgard of Monroe, Heather (Jake Larson) Westgard of Monroe, Danielle (Nick Johnson) Westgard of Allen, TX and Cheryl (Tim McNally) Westgard of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Melanie, Elicia, Keaton and one granddaughter on the way; father and mother-in-law, Greg and Emily Wild of Monroe; brother-in-law, Lonnie (Tina) Wild of Monroe; sister-in-law, Cari (Lee Jobs) Wild of Sturgeon Bay, WI; brothers, Timothy Westgard of Ft. Myers, FL and Alan (Marlyn) Westgard of Bremerton, WA; sister, Margaret (Martin) Cooper of Ft. Myers, FL; and many nieces, nephews and ‘cousints’.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Loudon Westgard Jr.
