Richard L. “Dick” Vinger, age 85 of Argyle, WI passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at his home in Argyle. He was born December 30, 1936, in Lamont Township in Lafayette County, WI the son of Martin and Esther (Putnam) Vinger. Dick grew up in Lamont and graduated from Argyle High School. After graduation, Dick worked as a cheesemaker and for Kelly Springfield until he decided to enlist in the United States Army where he served for 2 years. After being honorably discharged, Dick moved home in 1961 and in 1963 he was united in marriage to Judith Sauer at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington, WI. She preceded him in death in 2004. Dick returned to work at Kelly Springfield after moving back to the Argyle area where he worked for 33 years until retiring in 1995. He later married Linda White on July 7, 2007, at Apple Grove Lutheran Church in rural Argyle and the two have resided in Argyle since.

Dick is survived by his wife Linda at home; his two sons: Richard (Deana) Vinger of Dodgeville, WI and Chad (Mary) Vinger of Barneveld, WI, his stepchildren: Andy (June) Bartels of Brodhead, WI and Tammy (Dave Pittman) Martin of Darlington; his grandchildren: Jessica, Megan, Kristina, Rowan, and Ada Vinger; his step-grandchildren: Kody Bartels, Kelsey Bartels, and Emily (Andy) Kirschnier; and one sister: Mazie Hendrickson of Dodgeville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Judith; one brother: Henry Vinger; and three sisters: Geneva Hendrickson, June Cline, and Marsha Minderman.

Dick was proud of the time he spent in the United States Army and proudly joined the Argyle American Legion upon his discharge. He enjoyed being outside, bird watching, farming, fishing, hiking, and mushroom hunting. When he wasn’t outside, he enjoyed going to the movies, eating popcorn, and going to the casino with Linda. Richard cherished the time he spent with his family and friends creating memories they will all remember forever.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 6:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (801 Milwaukee St., Argyle) with Rev. Daniel L. Bohlman of Argyle/Apple Grove/Yellowstone Lutheran Churches officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday, May 12, 2022, from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date where military graveside rites will be accorded by Argyle American Legion Post #251.
