MONTICELLO – Richard “Dick” H. Lehr, age 81, of Monticello, WI passed away in his home of 79 years on August 29, 2019, while surrounded by his family.
Dick was born on March 19, 1938 in Monroe, WI to John and Lenza (Swartz) Lehr. Dick attended Babler Country School and Monticello High School. Dick was united in marriage to “Johnie” Johnson on April 4, 1959 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Dick actively farmed the family farm until 2006 and worked at GM for 30 years, retiring in 1987. He was a proud member of UAW and served as a committee man.
Dick especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and his Allis Chalmer tractors. He liked a good card game, playing solitaire and farkle and in earlier years riding motorcycles, snowmobiling and speeder cars.
Dick is survived by his wife, “Johnie”; a daughter, Deb (Dale) Losenegger of Monroe and sons, Dave (Amy), Dean (April) and Doug all of Monticello; 10 grandchildren, Eric Losenegger, Sara (Dan) Fedderly, Dan (Alyssa) Lehr, Jacob (Larissa) Gafner, Valerie (Ben) Koelbl, Natalie and Megan Lehr, Erin and Nikki Lehr and Dalton Lehr; 7 great grandchildren, Cael and Gehrig Losenegger, Hannah and Gavin Fedderly, Addelyn Lehr and Devin and Dylan Koelbl and one sister-in-law, Carla Lehr.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Judith Lehr in 1960; a brother, Duane in September of 2018 and a sister, Joanne Dearth in June 2019.
Dick requested no formal services. He wanted family and friends to meet at the farm. A celebration of Dick’s life will be held at the family farm on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 12PM Noon to 5 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family in his memory.
