Rhonda L. Schmid, age 64, of Orangeville, IL, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at her home in Orangeville. She was born May 25, 1960, in Monroe, WI, the daughter of Nathan and Betty (Flannery) Neuenschwander. She grew up in Orangeville and graduated from Orangeville High School in 1978. She was united in marriage to Steve Schmid on September 24, 1983, at St. John’s Lutheran church in Monroe. Rhonda lived in Monroe until after her marriage to Steve when she moved back to Orangeville where she raised her family and has resided since.
Rhonda is survived by her husband Steve at home; her children: Heather Schmid of Orangeville and Sarah (Robby) Dube of Minnetonka, MN; a grandson that she absolutely adored: Devin; one brother: Ronald (Dani) Neuenschwander, two nieces Kayla (Garrett) Kirwan & Jessica (Ryan) Smith, great nieces Bianca, Sophia, and Lexi, and great nephews Frankie & Ian.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter: Rebecca Jane in 1986; her aunts: Leona Wiesenberg, Margaret Neuenschwander, and Letha Bunnell; and her uncles: Ralph Neuenschwander and Fritz Neuenschwander.
Rhonda loved to crochet, collect rocks, play bingo, go camping, and always had a knack for finding the best treasures at thrift stores. She also had an incredible green thumb for outdoor plants and a hearty love for a good laugh. She was beloved among so many, with friendships that stood the test of time- from 6th grade to cancer til the very end. Her family was the single most important part of her life and she cherished every moment she spent with them, especially her grandson.
A celebration of Rhonda’s Life will be held Sunday, October 13, 2024 starting at 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 PM at the American Legion in Monroe (1627 12th Ave, Monroe, WI 53566).
