Patrick E. “Pat” Fitzsimons, age 69, of Monroe, WI, formerly of Darlington, WI, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at SSM-Health – Monroe Hospital in Monroe surrounded by his family. He was born May 29, 1955, in Darlington, the son of Edward and Shirley (Venden) Fitzsimons.
Pat graduated from Darlington High School in 1974. He married Kay Donahoe at The Little White Church on the Hill in Scales Mound, IL, on May 15, 2011.
Pat spent his working years in construction, building agricultural pole sheds, houses, and other remodeling projects.
Pat was a kind, quiet man, with an easy-going demeanor. He was loved, admired, and respected by his younger siblings and cherished all their family gatherings.
Pat enjoyed playing the keyboards on his tabletop organs, watching Badger and Packer games, and driving tractors and helping out on his brothers farms. Pat’s nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart, and he was especially proud to watch them in their sporting events.
Pat and Kay took many wonderful trips during their time together with a highlight being a 2019 trip to Ireland, England, and France with other family members.
One of Pat’s most prized and cherished possessions was his Sunkist Orange 1975 Corvette Stingray which he has owned for nearly 50 years.
Pat is survived by his wife Kay at home; his siblings: Tom “Stubby” (Gay) Fitzsimons, Ed (Julie) Fitzsimons, Bob (Missy) Fitzsimons, Steve (Candi) Fitzsimons all of Darlington, and Kathy (Kevin) Wiegel of DeForest, WI; uncle: James McKeon of Blanchardville; aunts: Carolyn Ruegsegger of Blanchardville, WI and Marilyn Zentner of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Mary Jean Fitzsimons; brother: Joseph Fitzsimons in infancy; a nephew: Chad Helms; grandparents: Christopher Venden, James and Alvina McKeon, and Frances and Francis Fitzsimons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet St., Darlington) with Fr. Thomas Coyle officiating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, December 30, 2024, from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church and on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:40 A.M. at which time there will be a Time of Family Remembrance at the church.
