Patricia “Pat” Pohl, age 84 of Monroe, died Saturday August 2, 2025 at U.W. Hospital in Madison, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 7, 1941 in Freeport, Illinois, the daughter of William and Violet (Ottenhausan) Thruman. She attended Freeport High School. Pat married James N. Kempel on May 10, 1959 in Freeport, IL; she later married John H. Pohl on January 1, 1976 in Freeport, Il. She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, she enjoyed fishing, reading, Crocheting, needle-work, cooking and baking; and spending time with her beloved dog, Rubi.

She is survived by her children: David Kempel of Monroe, Andrea Kempel of Sterling, IL, and Daniel Kempel of Omaha, NE; step-children: Jerry Pohl, Louann Kenney, and Darcey Pohl; 2 grandchildren, Kristin and Caden; 3 great grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands; sisters, Joyce Stewart and Norma Meyers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 8, 2025 at St. Johns United Church of Christ, with Reverend Todd Hackman officiating. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Freeport, IL. A visitation will be held Friday, from 10:00 am until the time of service, at the church.
