Pastor Dennis Perger, age 70 of rural Monroe, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at SSM Health Monroe Hospital. He was born the son of Rudolph and Carol (Link) Perger on January 22, 1955 in Phillips, WI. He was a graduate of Phillips High School; he furthered his education with a degree from Carson Neuman College in Tennessee and completed his schooling at Southern Seminary in South Carolina. Dennis was united in marriage to Joyce Durrance on December 5, 1987 in Bradenton, FL.
Pastor Dennis served others through his ministry at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in South Wayne for over 20 years. He felt a deep calling to help others, to connect through faith, and share God’s message. He was the current President of the Green County Pregnancy Center, and also served as an On-Call Chaplain for SSM Health Monroe Hospital. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, gardening, gun-smithing, and most of all, time with his family.
Dennis is survived by his wife of nearly 38 years, Joyce of Monroe; children, Julie (Trevor) McGregor of Las Vegas, NV, Christopher Perger of Anchorage, AK, and Andrew (Rebecca) Perger of Beaver Dam, WI; grandchildren, Emily McGregor, and Levi and Jude Perger; and his brothers, Victor (Cindy) Perger of Spokane, WA, Warren (Liz) Perger of Houghton, MI, and Rodger Perger of Forrest Grove, OR.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Daniel Perger.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Friday, September 19, 2025 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Andrew Perger officiating. Burial will follow service in Jordan Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-7:00PM on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home.
