Norman S. Gruenewald
DEATH NOTICE

Norman S. Gruenewald, age 99, of Monroe passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.  He was born June 9, 1926 to Frederick and Rosa (Waelti) Gruenewald.  He attended Monroe schools and the UW short course. Norman married Mildred Locast on January 30, 1949 in St. John’s United Church of Christ. 

Norman was a farmer most of his life, he then did construction for several years.  He was active and a leader in 4-H and served on the Juda School Board and the Sylvester Township Board.  He enjoyed gardening and kept busy watching and feeding the birds.  He loved the time he had with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Norman is survived by his son, Richard Gruenewald of Juda; daughter, Diane Gruenewald of Janesville; grandchildren: Kay (Sam) Huffman, Dan (Emily) Gruenewald and Briana Gruenewald; great-grandchildren, Sean, Dane, Sophie and Ali.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred; brother, Willis; sister, Helen Kummer; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Gruenewald. 

Private family services will be held with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

Norman’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at Pleasant View Nursing Home for their compassionate care, and one final “Hi-dee-ho!” from Norman.
