Neil Henry Anton Signer, age 88, of Monroe, died Monday, December 8, 2025 at his home. Neil was born at home in Clarno Township on August 13, 1937 to Joseph Anton and Gretta Claire (Camron) Signer. He grew up on a rural Clarno farm amongst his eight siblings. As a teenager, Neil worked at Clarno Lumber, did custom harvesting for his father, and was a member of FFA and 4-H. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1955 and was united in marriage to Nancy May Dickson on September 15, 1957.

Neil worked for Bruni Miller, Simmons Construction, and was a self employed carpenter for many years. He and Nancy farmed and raised beef cattle for over 50 years. Neil also did custom work with his John Deere combines for forty plus years. He loved visiting with people, attending auctions, hunting for morel mushrooms, picking black raspberries by the gallon bucketful, and collecting John Deere tractors and equipment.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church and Green County Forestry Center. He lived his whole life in Clarno Township.

Neil is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nancy Signer; children, Sandra (Calvin) Wasserstrass, Debra (James) Hurlbert, Teresa (Theodore) Smith, Sheila Fry (Steve Ferrell), Todd (Rebecca) Signer, Tracy (Wendi) Signer; grandchildren, Jeremy Wasserstrass, Brandi (Dustin) Widmer, Crimson (Justin) Pulver, Aleron (Abbie) Wasserstrass, Marcus (Megan) Hurlbert, Marissa (Daniel) Skoumal, Abram (Alexis) Hurlbert, Tessa Hurlbert, Joram (Anna) Hurlbert, David Hurlbert (Jadyn Elgin), Helen Nwabara, Kate (Anil Singhal) Fry, Laura Fry (Michael Cooney), Isaac Fry (Meghan Fredel), Jay Signer, Cassandra Signer, Joe Schwartzenberger, Emily Schwartzenberger, Bailey Signer; greatgrandchildren, Laney Widmer, Devon Widmer, Layla Fry, Chloe Pulver, Violet Pulver, Ruby Pulver, Olive Wasserstrass, Bowie Wasserstrass, Claire Hurlbert, and Baby Skoumal. He is further survived by his siblings, Donna Young, Dean (Deanne) Signer, Elaine Haddock, Nyla Signer, Dale (Karen) Signer, and Gwen (Phil) Robl. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ulonda Dietmeier and Kathryn Signer; and brothers-in-law, Donald Young and James Haddock.

A celebration of life open to the public will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Koning Maple Lane Event Center, Monroe, with a time of remembrance and sharing at 2:00 p.m. Private family graveside services will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the local United Methodist Church or the Green County Welcome Center. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
