Nathan Isely
Nathan Isely

Nathan Isely passed away peacefully at home on December 25, 2025, with his wife of 63 years, Patricia, by his side. Nate lived a full and engaged life, shaped by deep devotion to his family, pride in his work, curiosity about the world, and a sense of humor that brought joy to everyone around him.

Nate graduated from Monroe High School before serving in the United States Army, including time stationed in Germany. After his service, he spent more than 50 years as an engineer in the telephone industry in Monroe and Madison. He followed the evolution of communication with enthusiasm and cared deeply about the connections he helped create.

Nate was a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife Patricia; his children Melissa (Tony) Mackler, Paul (Elaine) Isely, and Noelle (Bruce) Cramer; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his brother Sheldon (Judy) Isely. Family was always at the center of his life, and he took great pride in being present, dependable, and supportive.

Nate loved learning and being involved. He enjoyed history, woodworking, geology, and coin collecting, and was an active member of coin clubs in Monroe and Madison as well as the Kiwanis Club. His extensive telephone collection is now displayed at the Tomah Area Historical Society & Museum.

What people will remember most is how Nate made them feel. He loved conversation, laughter, and making others smile — from sharing stories to his legendary St. Patrick’s Day tradition of tipping in gold coins. He lived generously, laughed often, and valued family above all.

A visitation will be held at Dickinson Funeral Home in Onalaska, WI, on February 14, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
