Nathan E. Hartwig, age 78 of Monroe, died Friday, December 11, 2020 at his home. Nathan was born on December 12, 1941 in Monroe, the son of Kenneth and Viola (Dietmeier) Hartwig. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1959 and was united in marriage to Donna R. Kubly on January 10, 1960 in Monroe. He farmed all of his life in Clarno Township and was a longtime member of East Clarno United Methodist Church. Nathan was a member of the Holstein Breeders Association at the county, state, and national level. He served on the Clarno Town Board, Green County Fair Board, and was a 4-H leader. Nathan loved showing cattle and always looked forward to watching his grandchildren’s sporting events or other activities. He and Donna enjoyed attending Wisconsin Badger football games and cheering on the packers.
Nathan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna R. Hartwig of Monroe; three daughters, Debbie Konopacki (fiancé, Gene Mickelson) of Monroe, Kathy (Art) Flater of Muskego, WI; Lisa (Tony) Beaver of Monroe; nine grandchildren, Dana Melhan, Nick (Debbie) Konopacki, Kenny Konopacki, Alex (Terra) Beaver, Angie Beaver (fiancé, Steven Deininger), Arthur Flater, Dylan Beaver, Nathan Flater, Lauren Flater; three great grandchildren, Allie and Ayden Konopacki, Evin Melhan; and his cousin, Nancy Hartwig of Madison.
Private family services will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Pastor Sarah Mae Gabuyo officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe.
