Moraine Anna (Gagne) Dunlavy
Moraine Anna (Gagne) Dunlavy

Moraine was born July 12, 1932 at home in Fall River, MA and died September 10, 2019 at UW Hospital Madison, WI. While these dates are significant what happened in between is what is most important!

Moraine was the daughter of Mary Jane (Bertha) Belanger and Ovide Gagne. She was the younger sister to Esther and older sister to Delice, Georgette, Paul, and Lisette. She attended Blessed Sacrament School through 8th grade and graduated 9th grade from Henry Lord Junior High in 1948 the only one of her siblings to do so. Moraine dreamed of becoming a wife and mother.

Moraine married Arthur Dunlavy on October 27, 1956 at St. Michael’s Church in Swansea, MA. She and Arthur had five children Shelby, Duane, Victoria, Dawn, and Troy. Moraine and Arthur later divorced but remained friends until Arthur’s death in 1998. Throughout her life Moraine lived in Massachusetts, Arizona, and Wisconsin. Moraine held many jobs over the years besides being a U.S. Navy wife for 25 years, but her most valued one was being a mom to her five kids and Grandmother, known to them as Mémère, to Travis, AnnaMarie, Haley, Titus, Chandler, and Marcus. She was the live-in daycare provider for Travis and AnnaMarie from the time Anna was born so they hold a special bond. Moraine was also the Great-Grandmother to Spencer, Gavin, Abigail, and Lydia with another great-grandson on the way.

Moraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur, brother Paul and sister Esther. She leaves behind her children: Shelby (Richard) Skattum, Argyle, WI; Duane Dunlavy, Argyle, WI; Victoria Dunlavy, Arizona; Dawn (Tom) Sorrells, Arizona; Troy (Michelle) Dunlavy, Arizona; her grandchildren Travis (Danica) Skattum; AnnaMarie (John) Hartman; Titus and Marcus Sorrells; Haley and Chandler Dunlavy and her great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters Delice, Georgette, and Lisette.

Services for Moraine will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Argyle, WI on Saturday, October 12th. A brief visitation from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian burial at 12:00 p.m. Please join our family for a meal in celebration of our mother’s life following the service.
