Mary Puntillo (nee Sulzer) passed peacefully but unexpectedly on January 1st, 2025 to join her father, Hans and ancestors that have gone before. She was the beloved daughter of Kathleen Sulzer; big sister to Mike Sulzer, Jane (Eric) Skelton and Jim (Denise) Sulzer; cousin to Scott (Rebecca) Feldt; and a dear aunt to five nieces and nephews and three grand-nieces and nephews.
Mary graduated from Beloit College and worked in Madison. Her first job was as an insurance claims adjuster before marrying and working in the audio and video trades. Besides handling the business affairs, she learned how to sell, install and service home theaters.
After retiring, she fulfilled a life-long dream and moved back to the family farm in rural Green County where she reconnected with people from her past. She became very active at Zwingli UCC in Monticello, joined the Prairie Enthusiasts, planned on getting back into 4-H and to join the Monroe City Band playing her French horn.
At leisure, Mary loved to knit, crochet, collect stamps, watch movies, play card games and especially enjoyed assembling jigsaw puzzles. She was a voracious reader, was a member of several book clubs and loved to write letters to new and old friends. Some of her most cherished memories were when she would take long road trips with her dad in his pickup truck.
A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Zwingli UCC, (416 E Lake Ave, Monticello, WI 53570). Visitation begins at 1pm with the service following around 3:30pm. A luncheon at the church will follow the service.
Donations can be sent to The Prairie Enthusiasts in Viroqua, WI or Zwingli UCC in Monticello.
