Mary L. Maher
Heyer Anvil Cloud at Sunset

Mary L. Maher passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at The Villa at Middleton Village, at the age of 77. She was born on October 23, 1942, in Albany, WI, the daughter of Lawrence and Katherine (Crotty) Maher. She grew up on the family farm and attended and graduated from Albany High School. After high school she attended Patricia Stevens Finishing School.

Mary worked as a salesperson, including the selling of cosmetics at I. Magnin in Chicago, and radio advertising in Wisconsin. She loved nothing more than going out for lunch with a friend, shopping garage sales, or sending a thoughtful card. She always looked beautiful when she was out and about. Her friends were fortunate to take part in her ‘tea party’ fundraisers for Porchlight, Inc.

She overcame many obstacles, including bipolar disorder, substance abuse and homelessness through her sheer determination and with the help of her friends and medical care givers. Thanks are due to The Villa at Middleton Village, Sylvan Crossings at Chapel Valley, Agrace Hospice & Palliative Care, the hospitals, physicians and nurses who cared for her through her struggles.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved brother, Billy, and her parents. She is survived by cousins and a wide circle of friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, WI. Interment will be at the cemetery at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Albany, WI on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 1pm.
