Mary Joyce Blumer, age 85, of Monroe passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at the SSM Hospital.  She was born the daughter of Oscar and Alice (Walgrave) Kammerude.  She attended Monroe High School.  Mary Joyce married Henry Blumer on February 11, 1956 they spent 67 years together. 

Mary Joyce farmed her entire life alongside her husband, Henry and raised their 5 children on the family farm. She was a member of St. Victor’s Catholic Church and Hiawatha Home Makers.  Mary Joyce enjoyed cooking, canning, quilting, and playing cards with her neighbors.    She was lovingly known as Grandma Peacock by her great-grandchildren. 

Mary Joyce is survived by her husband, Henry; children, Rebecca Blumer of Monroe, Robert (Sharon) Blumer of Monroe, Kenneth (Marcia) Blumer of Winslow, IL, Judith (Bruce) Meier of Monroe, and Julie (Ron Martin) Blumer of Monroe; together with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.  She is further survived by her brother, Oscar “Fritz” Kammerude of Monroe; and sisters, Darlene Hogan of Oelwein, IA, Elaine Karlen of Monroe, and Judith Hughes of Monroe. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law: Virgil Bieger, James Hogan, Michael Hughes, Rolland Karlen and Milton Friedrichs.
