Mary E. Schwartz age 94 of Monroe, died Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Mary was born on July 6, 1924 in Belmont, Wisconsin, the daughter of Arch and Evelyn (Schaaf) Buss. She graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1941 and Platteville State Teachers College in 1944. Mary came to Monroe to teach math at Monroe High School. Mary and Glen Schwartz were married on December 26, 1946 at St. Paul Church in Mineral Point.

She was a member of St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe and loved gardening and golfing. After raising her five children, Mary worked as the office manager at Schwartz Insurance for many years. Admired by her family, Mary had a wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her five children, Steven Schwartz of Fort Myers, FL, Elaine Christianson of Beloit, Randy (Carrie) Schwartz of Monroe, Mark (Sue) Schwartz of River Falls, and Daniel (Amy Glassman) Schwartz of Buren, Washington; nine grandchildren, Brian (Jodi) Schwartz, Chris (Nikki) Schwartz, Brad (Amanda) Schwartz, Leif Christianson, Marisa (Mark) Dempsey, Emily (Michael) Page, Jackson (Rose Carr) Schwartz, Ella (James) Robson, and Trevor Schwartz; 15 great-grandchildren; and nephews, William and Patrick Buss. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen on January 22, 2014; a daughter-in-law, Teena Schwartz; and two brothers, Harold and Ernest Buss.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Monsignor Larry Bakke officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery followed by coffee and cake in Nilles Hall. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers to Friends of Pleasant View, Green County E.M.S., or St. Victor Catholic Church in Mary’s name. The NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, is assisting the family.
