Marvin “Marv” E. Rufi, age 79, of Monroe, died Monday, November 27, 2023 at SSM Health Monroe Hospice Home. Marv was born November 7, 1944 in Monroe, the middle son of Roy Jr. and Harriet (Brown) Rufi.  He graduated from Monroe High School in 1962.  Marv served in the Army from 1966-1967 including a tour in Vietnam.  He owned and operated Rufi Construction in Monroe for over 45 years, building and remodeling many homes as a skilled carpenter.

 He married the love of his life, Kay (Abbuehl) Riemer on February 19, 1983.  The couple enjoyed camping, canoeing, dinners out, their places in the Dells, and road trips, especially to Indiana.  He was a member of Union Presbyterian Church for over 40 years, where he had many cherished friends and served on the properties committee.  He was an avid collector of tractors and farm antiques and a member of several clubs including the Baraboo Steam & Gas Engine Club and Rumley Collector Club.  He liked attending shows and swap meets and driving his tractors in parades.  He also collected farm toys, antique tools, and local memorabilia and he enjoyed sharing that hobby with others through his toy store and museum, Marv’s Farm Toys and Antiques, in Monroe.

 Marvin is survived by Teresa (Jason) Kraemer of Madison; Paul (Brook) Riemer of Eden Prairie, MN; five grandchildren, Abigail, Natalie, and Chloe Kraemer of Madison, Owen and Kiera Riemer of Eden Prairie, MN; a brother, Thomas (Alyce) Rufi of The Colony, TX; sisters-in-law, Jeanne (Gaylon) Obert, Connie (Thomas) Folgate, both of Orangeville, IL, Holly Abbuehl of Madison, Carolyn Abbuehl of Tucson, AZ; a brother-in-law, Ron Babler of Monroe; many nieces and nephews; and his friend, Linda Garrow of Monroe.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Kay (Abbuehl) Rufi; a brother, Robert Rufi; sisters-in-law, Margaret Rufi, Nancy Babler; and brothers-in-law, John Abbuehl, Glenn Abbuehl.

 Visitation will be at the Newcomer Funeral Home in Monroe on Thursday, November 30 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11 a.m., at the Union Presbyterian Church, Monroe, with Rev. Stacy Cavanaugh officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Greenwood Cemetery followed by a fellowship meal at Koning Maple Lane Event Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Monroe SSM Hospice Home in Marvin’s name.
