JANESVILLE/MONROE – Marvin J. “Marv” Herbert, age 75, of Janesville, died Monday, September 3rd, 2018 at his home as a result pancreatic cancer, of which he fought for four and half years. He was born in Monroe, WI on December 11th, 1942, to Marvin and Evelyn (Theiler) Herbert. He attended Clarno School and Church and was a member of the Monroe High School graduating class of 1961. He married Dianne Dustin on June 26, 1976 in Monroe. Together they had a daughter, Angie Kay (John) King in 1979. Marv considered Angie to be his greatest accomplishment. He had been employed at Clarno Lumber, Advance Transformer, and later retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. Marv loved the Packers, Badgers and most of all, the Milwaukee Brewers. His dream was to pitch to all his baseball heroes of the past once he made his way to heaven…batter up.

Marv was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Robert and Beulah Dustin. In addition to being survived by his wife Dianne; daughter Angie (John) King; step-grandchildren, Jared King and Kennedy King; Marv’s grand dogs, Max and Daphne; and Dianne’s family, especially Jan Keough and Susan Dettmann, who he considered his sisters; and also his neighbors on Coventry Drive, and many other friends.

 A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 8th, 2018 at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES.

Marv’s family would like to thank Dr. Shahid Shekhani and especially the Mercy Oncology nurses who he adored like family. The family would also like to express appreciation to Agrace Hospice for their loving care and comfort provided at the end of Marv’s journey.
